Compare every fighting style in MUGEN ranked by power, rarity, and combos. Find out which ones are worth chasing and which to skip.

Picking the right breathing style in MUGEN decides whether you shred opponents or watch your health bar melt. Each style lifts moves straight from Demon Slayer, so skill and spectacle collide every time you swing.
In MUGEN, your combat performance depends heavily on which style you unlock and equip. Each style is modeled after breathing techniques from Demon Slayer and comes with its own rarity, skillset, and strengths. While all styles are playable, some are simply stronger and more efficient than others.
This tier list ranks every style by raw damage, combo potential, and how much pain it takes to unlock.

Style Rankings Explained
Shockwave sits firmly at the top of the list because it is powerful and dynamic. You can play aggressively or defensively thanks to its long-range capabilities, burst combos, and reliable crowd control. However, because of its 0.5% drop rate, don’t expect to unlock it early on unless you get lucky.
Sound follows closely behind in the S-Tier. It doesn’t hit quite as hard as Shockwave, but it’s extremely versatile and easier to get. You can cover distance, land solid hits, and stay active in battle without much downtime, though you’ll need to manage its long cooldowns.
In A-Tier, you’ll find Flame and Sickles. Flame is a strong option if you like high-damage close-combat fighting, but it’s slightly held back by limited reach and cooldown issues. Sickles, on the other hand, is built for beginners — simple to use, deals solid area damage, and has a decent drop rate. Its main downside is a weak awakening phase and a shallow move pool.
Water, the most common style in the game, lands in B-Tier. It’s a good introduction to how the game works, but it doesn’t scale well. It lacks the kind of damage, utility, or mobility that higher-tier styles offer. If you’re aiming to be competitive, don’t rely on Water for too long.
