These animals are not just for your amusement, however, and serve a greater purpose in helping you unlock valuable gear. The Alpha Vaperon is one such creature that helps you unlock the powerful Reflect-O-Matic Hand Gel.
The Alpha Vaperon is a stronger version of the Vaperons you find in Xephyr. These creatures are a hybrid of wasps and praying mantis and are just as dangerous as they are scary. The Vaperons by themselves can be a hassle to deal with. They buzz around you, scratching with their claws, before retreating away. The Alpha Vaperon retains these behaviours and amplifies the frustrations with greater damage.

How To Find and Capture the Alpha Vaperon in Revenge of the Savage Planet
You find the Alpha Vaperon in the Pillars of Turpitude region of Xephyr. This region is west of the Greater Sand Sea region. Spawn at the Greater Sand Sea teleporter and head directly west to discover the Pillars of Turpitude.
As you enter deeper into this region, you will find several giant skeletons. Approach the skeletons, and you will find the Vaperons flying about. Kill all the Vaperons, as well as the other creatures, to summon the Alpha Vaperon. If you drop low in HP, use the plants atop the rocks to heal.
Clear the area and search around to find the Alpha Vaperon. Stay at a distance and use your scanner to identify its weak spot. The Alpha Vaperon’s weak spot lies in its knees. Shoot at its knees multiple times to stun the creature.
Make sure to fight from a distance, as the creature uses a tornado attack if you get too close. Stun the creature and use your Proton Whip to capture it. Research the Alpha Vaperon in the Habitat to unlock the Reflect-O-Matic Hand Gel.
