Currently, Windows Insiders are trying out an update from Microsoft that adds an AI-powered “Write” feature to the regular Notepad application. Notepad, which has always been a basic text editor, will get an update that lets users generate and edit text using AI prompts.

With Write, Notepad users can ask it to produce new content or edit their existing texts. Users can get a prompt box powered by Windows Copilot by right-clicking on their document. After the prompt is entered, the AI makes a text draft that can be taken as is, improved, or rejected. With this, Notepad adds to its previous tools, Summarize and Rewrite, which allow users to change their text in the same application.

Microsoft is including AI features in its other native programs. Paint tool has gained an AI-based sticker maker that changes text into pictures. Furthermore, the new Snipping Tool can crop screenshots by itself depending on what the user wants to highlight. Access and Limitations

Unfortunately, there are some limitations involving these AI features. Those who want to use the new features must register with a Microsoft account, log in, and have Windows 11 installed on a Copilot Plus PC. It means that although AI upgrades can make basic applications perform better, you still need to consider the cost and necessary platform for using them.
