Many fans are wondering if the latest Elden Ring Nightreign is more difficult than its predecessors. This article will try to answer it.

FromSoftware titles are notorious for their soul-crushing difficulty, and Elden Ring Nightreign is the latest entry. This time, the developers have built a co-op roguelike game while keeping the original Elden Ring as the base. Nightreign brings new challenges, Nightlords, and despair that will surprise the veterans and newcomers alike.
So, many might wonder if Elden Ring Nightreign is more difficult than its predecessors. The answer is yes if you are playing solo, and no if you are playing in a three-member party. Still, Nightreign has deviated from the classic Soulsborne formula considerably, which makes the comparison a bit difficult. However, we will discuss it in depth in this article.
Elden Ring Nightreign is More Difficult If You Are Playing Solo

FromSoftware made Elden Ring Nightreign with multiplayer and co-op in mind. So, the game design is built around these two aspects. Which means that mechanics in the game favor a party of multiple Nightfarers and put a solo player at a considerable disadvantage. This is also evident in the various bosses and Nightlords in the game. The developers clearly designed them to challenge three players at once, which means a lone individual might find them overwhelming.
Furthermore, due to the nature of Nightreign, the moment you set foot into Limveld, it becomes a race against time. Players must gather as much loot as possible and defeat as many enemies as they can while the circle closes in, preparing themselves for the final boss fight.
This entire process could be quite difficult for solo players, and they might struggle to level up or gather better gear. This could make life a lot harder for them due to the limited time and progression system.
The previous FromSoftware titles were single-player focused. So, they did not have these issues. Understandably, Nightreign’s predecessors were not easy games, but it was certainly possible to overcome any obstacle with determination and leveling up. In addition to that, in the previous Soulsborne games, death was always brutal, but it was possible to walk back to the boss within a reasonable amount of time.
Elden Ring Nightreign does not share this feature. Since the game is a roguelike, after dropping into the expedition, players will need to survive multiple days to encounter the Nightlords. However, if they die, then they will have to start over from the very beginning and repeat the entire gameplay loop, which could take up to forty-five minutes.
Now, the game gives players in a party the option to revive their teammates. However, the solo players do not get such options, and because of that, the death feels more brutal and frustrating.
Elden Ring Nightreign Co-op is Just as Difficult as Its Predecessors

Even though it is quite hard to compare Elden Ring Nightreign with the previous FromSoftware titles, if you have a full party, it is still difficult but more forgiving. With two more players beside you, you will be able to move through the various normal enemies with ease. However, the various bosses and Nightlords will still be a considerable threat.
They are designed for a three-player party and will easily take on your team with no complications. Additionally, the Nightlords are the toughest enemies you will face, and beating them is just as hard as beating other difficult Soulsborne bosses.
Furthermore, compared to solo, gathering loot and managing the ever-closing circle in Elden Ring Nightreign is way easier with companions. It makes leveling up and building your character with the weapons and gear you find during each run much more enjoyable.
Still, it is hard to compare Nightreign with its predecessors since leveling up happens much faster in it than in the previous titles. However, if you choose the play the game in co-op, you will find it about as difficult as its predecessors.
