In this guide, we shall go over how to get the Ornithopter fast and without an excruciating grind in Dune Awakening.
Dune Awakening throws you into the hostile lands of Arrakis, forcing you to navigate an escalating Atreides/Harkonnen conflict in search of the Fremen. This alternate reality version may not have a Paul Atreides, but it has you shaping its events. The game gives you a ton of tools to tackle quests, including armor, weapons, gadgets, and most importantly, vehicles.
Dune Awakening has a ton of vehicles that you can use, but the Ornithopter may just be the coolest. The Ornithopter is a four-winged aerial vehicle that soars across the red Arrakis sky, letting you bypass all the dangers on the ground. It is not only one of the fastest means of travel in the game but also one of the more convenient ones.
You unlock the Ornithopter by acquiring Intel Points and reaching the Aluminum tier. This process in and of itself is pretty grindy. You have to raid Enemy Outposts and search inside. The task is a little easier with a Survey Probe, but it still takes a good chunk of time.
Even if you do manage to unlock the item, you’ll then need to craft individual parts. The parts include Scout Ornithopter Hull Mk4, Chassis Mk4, Cockpit Mk4, Engine Mk4, Generator Mk4, and more. Between all the parts you need, you’ll then have to grind for 200+ Aluminum Ingots, Particle Capacitors, Diamondine Dust, and others. Considering all of this, you’ll be well into the mid-to-late game before you ever get to fly one. That is, unless you use our trick shared below.
How To Get the Ornithopter Without Grinding
You can bypass the intel and resource grind by simply purchasing the Ornithopter parts from a faction vendor. Purchasing the vehicle parts and assembling it is a much faster option and will allow you to enjoy flying about Arrakis much earlier than if you opted to craft the vehicle.
In order to purchase the Ornithopter parts, you’ll first have to reach Level 4 with any of the factions in the game. You level up with factions by gaining reputation, which in turn is gained by completing faction quests. Complete the faction quests to reach Level 4 and unlock access to Ornithopter parts. You can then purchase all the parts for around 120,000 Solari.
