How Does the Intoxicating Strike Work in Baldur’s Gate 3?

The Intoxicating Strike is a Drunken Master exclusive action that one can learn after reaching Level 4 in said subclass. This is an offensive action that requires the user to be unarmed. However, that won’t be a problem, as the Monk class tends to favor most unarmed attacks, including Intoxicating Strike.
When you hit an enemy using Intoxicating Strike, there is a chance that the enemy will be affected with the Drunk status for five turns. Drunk enemies get a disadvantage on Dexterity and Charisma checks. In combat, the Dexterity disadvantage on enemies can be an immense help in most situations, as the Monk class heavily relies on the Dexterity stat in most of their actions.
Attacking with Intoxicating Strike requires one Action and one Ki Point. Ki is a Monk-exclusive resource that you replenish every short and long rest. Moreover, there are ways to replenish with some attacks as well. The damage you deal with Intoxicating Strike varies, as it deals damage equal to your current Unarmed Bludgeoning amount. Additionally, the range of the attack is 1.5 m or 5 ft.
Lastly, hitting an enemy with Intoxicating Strike gives the attacker the Life of the Party buff. This buff increases the attacker’s armor class by one and gives a bonus Wisdom modifier to your attack rolls against Drunk targets. Overall, Intoxicating Strike is one of your key actions if you choose to play as a pure Drunken Master throughout your entire Baldur’s Gate playthrough.
