Surviving the nights in Elden Ring Nightreign is extremely challenging. The rogue-like elements and powerful enemies make battles more intense and difficult. However, the game also features certain key mechanics that offer a significant advantage when used properly. One such mechanic is the Critical Hit. While Critical Hits trigger a flashy attack animation, they also inflict massive damage, draining a chunk of HP from enemies and bosses.

While most players overlook Critical Hit by considering it a random occurrence, that’s not the case. With the right strategies, you can land Critical Hits consistently. To perform a Critical Hit on an enemy or a boss, you must first break their stance/poise, which creates a brief opening for the attack.

Here are the different ways you can get Critical Hits in Elden Ring Nightreign.

In Elden Ring Nightreign, you can perform a Critical Hit on an enemy in several ways.

  • A well-timed parry can break an enemy’s stance. However, this requires precise timing and good knowledge of the enemy’s attack patterns. Moreover, you need a weapon or shield with parry skill to execute a parry. Press the parry option just before the enemy’s melee attack lands to trigger a parry counter, providing you a brief window to perform a Critical Hit. However, keep in mind that certain enemy attacks can’t be parried.
  • Striking an enemy continuously will eventually cause them to stagger. Heavy attacks, Jump Attacks, and Charged attacks have a great chance to break an enemy’s stance. Once staggered, approach the enemy and press the attack button to execute a Critical Hit.
  • You can also execute a Critical Hit by getting behind an enemy and pressing the attack button. However, this backstab works only against humanoid enemies.
  • When you deal enough damage to a boss, they may collapse and expose a glowing weak spot. Quickly approach the spot and press the attack button before the boss recovers to perform a devastating Critical Hit.

You can also equip Relics to boost the Critical Hit effects. While some Relics increase your chance to break enemy poise, others, like Night of the Baron and Cracked Sealing Wax, offer a bonus for each Critical Hit you perform.
