Learn how to defeat the Grafted Monarch Night Boss in Elden Ring Nightreign by discovering his weaknesses and moveset.

The Grafted Monarch is a Night Boss in Elden Ring Nightreign inspired by Godrick the Grafted from the original game. Despite having only one phase, the Grafted Monarch is one of the most difficult bosses you can face on the first night of an expedition. The boss gets his name from the various body parts, especially arms, that have been grafted onto his body.
Overview of Grafted Monarch in Elden Ring Nightreign
The Grafted Monarch is a Night 1 Boss who appears during the Fissure In The Fog, Augur, and Night Aspect expeditions. He has only one phase, but begins using more dangerous attacks when falling below half health.
The Grafted Monarch is a challenging Night Boss because of his high aggression, diverse moveset, and surprising mobility. He wields two axes, uses several AoE abilities, and repositions himself with leaping and rolling attacks. You have a decent chance of surviving an encounter with the Grafted Monarch if your team manages to reach at least level 6 by the first night.
Weaknesses of Grafted Monarch
The Grafted Monarch has a few weaknesses you can exploit. He can be staggered with continuous heavy attacks and interrupted with Ultimates. He is mildly resistant to most elements, especially Holy. Using physical attacks and frost damage against him is most effective. Positioning yourself behind the Grafted Monarch will allow you to avoid most of his combos until he uses an AoE ability or aggros onto you.
Tips To Easily Defeat Grafted Monarch

- You can stagger the boss by attacking it with Ultimates and heavy attacks. Once he is staggered, approach his head and attack to land a critical strike.
- When the Grafted Monarch aggros onto one player, the other two can attack him aggressively from behind, watching out for AoE moves.
- When he raises his axe high and swings it in circles, two whirlwinds appear around him in succession, dealing moderate damage. He can follow this up by stomping his foot into the ground and creating an even larger whirlwind.
- The Grafted Monarch has several delayed attacks meant to make players panic roll. The most delayed attack is the axe swipe, which he charges by pulling the axe back across his chest and raising it high. After two seconds, he swings the axe, followed by two swings of his other arm and a potential ground-slam.
- The boss raises his foot high and slams his axe explosively into the ground for AoE damage. He will then sink his axe deeper to cause an even larger explosion.
- The Grafted Monarch pulls back his axe, crouches, and leaps to attack over a long distance. If you are a ranged Nightfarer or healing after backing away, watch out for this move.
- The deadliest attack in the Grafted Monarch’s arsenal is the axe combo. The boss dramatically lifts the axe high to one side and begins slashing aggressively, swinging four times. When this combo is about to begin, either sprint away or position yourself behind him. Your ultimate ability has a good chance of interrupting the combo.
- After his health falls below 50%, the Grafted Monarch can summon a massive, gnarled tail that spins 360° before slamming down over a long range. Back away or roll through the first attack and circle the boss to avoid the second strike before counterattacking.
- When the boss starts rolling, prepare to dodge an incoming combo as soon as he completes the maneuver.
