The Weird Route, also known as the Snowgrave Route, is a dark storyline in Deltarune that can be triggered in Chapter 2. It serves as an “evil” playthrough for the game, despoiling several characters and involving meta-narratives. Beginning the Weird Route is a deliberate process with specific conditions that need to be met. However, once you start the Weird Route, the save is locked into it, and events in future chapters will play out accordingly.

Deltarune’s Weird Route can begin in Chapter 2, after you travel to the Cyber World and meet Noelle Holiday. It involves forcing Noelle to freeze all the enemies in the level using the IceShock spell, finding the Thorn Ring, and unlocking the SnowGrave spell. We recommend creating a new save and beginning Chapter 2 for the truly evil Genocide Run in Deltarune.

Freeze All Enemies

Once Noelle joins your party, attack enemies you encounter in the level only using the IceShock spell. If you use regular attacks to kill an enemy or spare them, the Weird Route will be blocked off. When an enemy is killed with the IceShock spell, they remain frozen in place and do not respawn.

Backtrack and freeze all the enemies in the previous area. Use Kris’s Defend to generate TP for Noelle’s IceShock spell and freeze every enemy. While backtracking, Noelle will remind you that you are going the wrong way. Ignore her.

When you reach the room with the large Ferris wheel poster, interact with the shopkeeper standing to the right. Choose the “We are something else” dialogue option. If all the enemies encountered so far have been frozen by backtracking, the shopkeeper will offer to sell a Freeze Ring. Keep selecting the “Get it” option and equip Noelle with the Freeze Ring.

Continue heading forward and keep choosing the “Proceed” option whenever presented. You must freeze all enemies before you fight Berdly. Once they are all frozen, head back to the dumpster on the bottom left side of the area with the two long roads. Interact with it to purchase the Thorn Ring and equip it to Noelle. If you have not frozen all the enemies in the level, the dumpster will display how many are left.

Continue forward and start the fight with Berdly. Use Defend for both Kris and Noelle until you have enough TP to cast the Snowgrave spell. Noelle will refuse to use the spell, saying that she does not know it. Continue commanding her to use the spell until she does. Once the spell is cast, the Weird Route begins, featuring new cutscenes and interactions throughout the upcoming chapters.
