The new Ultra Beast Drop Event in Pokemon TCG Pocket lets you add Necrozma ex to your collection. This famous card can be acquired by anyone, granted they are decently lucky with their promo pack pulls.

Ultra Necrozma has a unique effect which discards the top five cards of both player’s decks. This has potential to stop your enemy from pulling any further play, by discarding key cards from their deck.

Necrozma ex is basically used as a finisher in this deck, with Giratina ex as the opener. Unfortunately, this is necessary as Necrozma ex needs both Metal and Psychic-type energy to attack. You either get 4 energy on Giratina ex, and crush your opponent with that alone, or if they knock out Giratina, put Necrozma in the front to wipe out whatever is left.

Unfortunately, this deck is not very viable in the current ranked meta. Silvally-Rampardos and Solgaleo will be too quick to set up most of the time to wipe out this deck.

You will need to stack up two Metal-type energy quickly on Ultra Necrozma so that you can start discarding the opponent’s deck. Other good cards also include Dusk Mane Necrozma to counter Oricorio, and staples like Professor’s Research and Poke Ball to get more cards to work with.

Strategy

Here is the main strategy for the core cards in the deck:

• The main strategy involves using Lusamine if Giratina ex gets knocked out. Any Psychic energy you attach to Giratina can then be transferred over to Necrozma ex.
• This will quickly be able to thin down your opponent’s deck, five cards per turn. Meanwhile, switch to Dusk Mane Necrozma, if you’re matched against Oricorio.
• Leaf can be used to switch your two Necrozma cards in and out of the Active zone.

Giratina, being one of the primary attackers in this deck, makes it stronger against Fighting-type decks. This is mostly due to their weakness against Psychic attacks. Moreover, this deck will also work decently against stall and wall decks, as you won’t be attacking before your preparation is finished, following which it will most likely be a swift victory.

Counters To This Ultra Necrozma ex Deck in Pokemon TCG Pocket

This deck will likely struggle against an Oricorio stall deck. Three out of the four attackers in the deck are ex-Pokemon, making them highly vulnerable against Oricorio.

Moreover, Giratina ex is one of the primary attackers, which makes it weaker against Dark-type decks. Meanwhile, Dusk Mane Necrozma is weak to Fire-type attacks, so Charizard and the ilk could be threatening. Fortunately, Necrozma ex doesn’t have any more weaknesses that you need to watch out for.
