The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is one of the toughest bosses you can face on Night 1 in Elden Ring Nightreign. The boss’s erratic movements, unorthodox attack patterns, and high mobility make it a nightmare for underleveled teams. In the expeditions where it may appear, knowing how to handle this boss is key to progressing to Day 2.

Overview of Ulcerated Tree Spirit in Elden Ring Nightreign

The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is a writhing mass of shrubbery and grotesque corruption. This serpentine monstrosity can be encountered as a Night 1 Boss on the Sentient Pest, Fissure in the Fog, and Night Aspect expeditions. Its attack methodology is to throw the kitchen sink at the Nightfarers, lashing out with claws, teeth, fiery breath, and even holy magic. To have a fair chance of beating the boss, your team should have reached level 6 at a minimum.

Weaknesses of Ulcerated Tree Spirit

The Ulcerated Tree Spirit’s primary weakness is fire damage, followed by a vulnerability to frost and physical attacks. The boss is especially resistant to holy damage and status effects, including poison, hemorrhage, and Scarlet Rot. It is prone to being staggered when several heavy attacks connect with its head, opening a critical strike window. Flanking it from either side is an effective tactic, as most of its attacks are focused ahead of it, with tail swipes lashing out behind.

Tips To Easily Defeat Ulcerated Tree Spirit

Stay near its sides, not behind it, as tail swings can punish the rear position.
Attack the Ulcerated Tree Spirit’s head when it lowers to break its poise and stagger it. Then, attack its head again to land a critical strike.
Roll through bite attacks; roaring usually signals an attack is coming.
When the boss reaches half health, yellow flames appear around it, followed by holy explosions in its vicinity. Sprint or roll away when you see the flames appear.
During the flame breath attack, reposition to its flank or rear for free hits.
If it begins to coil or snap jaws, prepare to dodge the follow-up body slam. Wait for the moment before it lands to roll.
Several attacks have long wind-ups but fast execution, which are easier to counter if you avoid panic rolling.
