Here are the strongest cards from Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals that are ready to dominate the meta owing to their sheer potential.

Just like in every new expansion, the Destined Rivals set has several cards that players will look to add to their decks on the basis of their gameplay potential. These cards either have useful Abilities, high damage ceilings, or other unique traits that make them great picks for the meta. So, let’s take a look at five of the strongest cards from this expansion.
Top 5 Strongest Cards From Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals
These are five of the strongest cards from the Destined Rivals expansion.
- Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex
- Team Rocket’s Watchtower
- Shaymin
- Ethan’s Typhlosion
- Cynthia’s Garchomp ex
5) Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex

“We dreamed of creating the world’s strongest Pokemon…and we succeeded.” – Mewtwo Strikes Back (1998)
Team Rocket’s Mewtwo ex deals a 160 damage minimum with its move Erasure Ball. After discarding up to 2 Energy from your Benched Pokemon, that damage can shoot up to 280. The sole reason as to why this card is number five on the list comes down to the relatively high Energy cost of its move and its ability Power Saver, which needs at least 4 Team Rocket’s Pokemon in play.
4) Team Rocket’s Watchtower

As always in each expansion, some Trainer cards catch players’ eyes the most due to their viability. For Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals, one of those cards is Team Rocket’s Watchtower, a Stadium card that can shut down the Abilities of all Colorless Pokemon in play. This includes cards like Noctowl, Eevee ex, and Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex, who are core cards in several meta decks.
3) Shaymin

Shaymin is an excellent new support card thanks to its ability, Flower Curtain. This Mythical Pokemon prevents any damage done by the opponent’s Pokemon to the cards on your Bench that don’t have Rule Boxes. The card helpfully clarifies that Rule Boxes are only present on cards like Pokemon ex or Pokemon V, so other Basic, Stage 1, or Stage 2 cards fall under Shaymin’s protection.
2) Ethan’s Typhlosion

Ethan’s Typhlosion has caused a stir because of its first move, Buddy Blast, which synergizes well with the Trainer card Ethan’s Adventure. For each Ethan’s Adventure in your discard pile, Buddy Blast’s damage increases by 60. As Ethan’s Adventure helps draw cards that can set up Ethan’s Typhlosion in the first place, it isn’t too unlikely that you can end up discarding all four of these Trainer Cards. In those situations, Buddy Blast deals 280 damage.
1) Cynthia’s Garchomp Ex

Arguably, the most powerful card in Pokemon TCG Destined Rivals, Cynthia’s Garchomp ex is a threat given both its moves. Its first move, Corkscrew Dive, not only deals 100 damage for just one Fighting Energy, but also lets players draw cards until they have 6 cards in their hand. As for their second move, Draconic Buster deals 260 damage for two Fighting Energy. While it has a drawback of needing to discard all Energy attached to Cynthia’s Garchomp ex, the low Energy cost means that players can set it up again in no time.
